Sedation Dentistry
Sedation Dentistry is a proven, safe and effective method used by Dr. Haslam to decrease the anxiety, fear and apprehension some individuals feel when they undergo dental treatment. He has been licensed by the State of Utah for over 20 years to offer three forms of sedation dentistry for the relaxation and comfort of his patients.
- Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): minimal or mild form of sedation dentistry that is inhaled by the patient. This is the most common form of sedation dentistry used in dental offices for anxiety control for patients of all ages.
- Oral Sedation (A Pill): an anti-anxiety sedative pill that produces mild to moderate sedation. An oral medication is prescribed for the patient and taken prior to the appointment. May be used with nitrous oxide. Requires a responsible adult to escort the patient to and from the appointment.
- IV Sedation: the sedative agents are administered directly into the bloodstream to achieve the desired level of conscious sedation. Although you will not be asleep, this alternative form of sedation dentistry can increase the level of comfort and relaxation. This sedation dentistry technique, in most cases, produces the most profound amnesia to the treatment.
